CHICAGO?

City officials have heaped praise on Chicago's police for putting in extra hours during the NATO Summit.

Now that the protests are over, the police union is demanding the city put its money where its mouth is.

The Fraternal Order of Police filed its fourth grievance tied to the summit, just under a month before the FOP's contract is set to expire.

They claim the city is refusing to pay time-and-a-half to officers who worked six or seven consecutive days.

The union says, its contract clearly states that officers are entitled to overtime pay whenever they work more than five consecutive days.

Police spokeswoman Melissa Stratton said the department intends to make sure that officers are fully compensated.

Three other recent grievances filed by the FOP also relate to a lack of compensation for officers working NATO weekend.
