Nintendo Proves That Art Is For Everyone

If there?s one thing that the internet loves, it?s the odd amazing fact here and there. For example, did you know that 66% of British people haven?t visited an art gallery or exhibition in the last 12 months, and 40% supposedly find creating pieces of art intimidating because of concerns about their ability?

Well, that?s all about to change if Nintendo has anything to say about it.? That?s because the videogame giant is launching ?Create Britain?, a campaign to encourage people to be more creative and to try painting and drawing. Nintendo recently commissioned a piece of research on the subject that shows that less and less people are engaging with art, but that 58% of them would like to get more acquainted with the field, provided they had more help in the form of technology or expert advice.

Unfortunately, Bits ?n? Bytes Gaming was unable to attend, but Nintendo kicked off its campaign today in London, just outside County Hall on the Southbank. Attendees were given a DSi XL console and expert guidance by contemporary British artist Pam Glew, as they created their own renditions of one of Canaletto?s iconic paintings of Westminster Bridge.

London was only the first stop in a nationwide tour. Other cities include Cardiff, Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow. More information about the tour dates can be found at http://www.nintendo.co.uk.? If you want to give Art Academy a go for free, this is most certainly your chance!
