They took 5 tents for the 7 of them. The twins had their own tent; Mick had his own tent; Xander had a tent which he shared with Jack Cryer, Joel Garrick and Stephen Amos; Peter had a tent which he shared with Ryan Garrick, and?George had a tent which he shared with Jared Amos. Sam slept in the Garrick's tent with Scott and Paul.
I asked Sam what he did at camp and he said 'I played football' but I think that the older children and the adults spent?most of the evening?sitting around?camp fires eating and?chatting (although I did hear a rumour that Xander and Jack were playing on a slide at?midnight!).
In the morning (following varying amounts of sleep - Sam estimated his sleep time at 1.5 hours) Mick?cooked breakfast?before they listened to?a devotional on the subject of the Priesthood.?Mick?said that this year the devotional went on for a really long time -?but that could?just be a perception thing?because he knew that he had to get Sam back home on time!
Whilst the boys were away Sarah and I attended ?a non-camp out for mothers and daughters which?was organised and hosted by our ward's new young women's president Katy Turner.?Like the boys we had?camp fires and marshmallow toasting but we also had a pot-luck supper, a scavenger hunt, a manicure station, board games and a trampoline (and at 9.30pm we all went home to warm comfortable beds)! Unfortunately, I was not feeling very lively that evening and only managed to eat and sit (and take one photograph). Luckily Katy was there to paint Sarah's nails and to toast marshmallows with her and Kirsten and Ellie were there to play hide and seek with her in the Turner's amazing garden, which comes complete (at that time of night) with roosting peacocks! The next morning Sarah was very tired and although she had been looking forward to having sole control of the TV remote she ended up crying because she was missing her brothers (apparently watching Cbeebies is only fun if your brothers are there wanting to watch something else)!? However,?once they all got home at about lunch time it wasn't long before she was crying?again - this time because her brothers were?annoying her! In spite of it making everyone over-tired we all enjoyed our camp out and non-camp out events. So much so that for family night on Monday we had a camp reunion in the back garden. We toasted all sorts of things on our fire including marshmallows, bananas, left-over chips and doner kebabs (which were all quite nice) and tinned ravioli (which was disgusting).
