An elevated risk for injury appears to continue through the first five years of practice which can also be partly due to a lack of experience says a Seattle chiropractor. Adjusting the thoracic and lumbosacral spine, particularly when the patient is laying on their side, is associated with an increased risk of injury. It has been noted that occupational musculoskeletal disorders in health care occur not because of an isolated event like an accident but instead as a result of activities that are a regular part of the job. If musculoskeletal injuries result from a number of different risk factors then what can we do to prevent them? As practitioners, we are all familiar with the concept of ergonomics as we discuss these things almost daily in our offices. It is a must that we take the time to apply those same instructions to ourselves.
