The park has announced a partnership with entertainment company Cirque Dreams and its creator Neil Goldberg to present a cutting edge dolphin show from spring 2013.
Cirque Dreams: Splashtastic will combine the ever-popular marine mammals with a renowned company of acrobats, aerialists and other acts that will perform for spectators at the Dolphin Harbor Theater.
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom president Dale Kaetzel said the theme park was excited by the prospect of bringing the 'unique magic' of Cirque Dreams to its guests.
He added: 'This mesmerising new water spectacle is a great complement to our existing line-up of rides, shows and animal attractions, making us northern California's best entertainment destination.'
The park is located in Vallejo in Solano County, an area situated about halfway between the cities of San Francisco and Sacramento.
Its other attractions include the Cobra, Hammerhead Shark and Kong thrill rides.
