Crystal Harris, Hugh Hefner Married

Today is the big day – Crystal Harris and Hugh Hefner married. Even after the 26 -year-old model embarrassed the senior citizen just a year and a half ago by leaving the old man at the altar, he is once again taking her back and walking her down the aisle. Crystal has already changed her Twitter name @CrystalHarris and Tweeted,   “Today is the day I become Mrs. Hugh Hefner. Feeling very happy, lucky, and blessed.”   This is after she left Hugh at the altar and forced him to change the bride’s Playboy issue to the Runaway Bride issue. She sold off her engagement ring and Hef let her keep the car. Even that couldn’t keep he happy and didn’t make her feel like she should have any kind of protection over their relationship.? She humiliated him by speaking publicly about their intimate moments, or lack there of.   She said that sex with the millionaire lasted ‘like two seconds’, adding: ‘Then I was just over it. I was like, ‘Ahhh.’ I was over it. ‘I just like, walked away. I’m not turned on by Hef, sorry.’ She continued: ‘He doesn’t really take off his clothes. I’ve never seen [...]

(AP) ? The Patriots are rolling again, right into a playoff bye.

Tom Brady threw two touchdown passes, the defense had a season-high seven sacks and New England ended a rare slump by dominating the Miami Dolphins 28-0 on Sunday.

"Hopefully, this will be a good game that we can step off from and keep working to improve," coach Bill Belichick said.

Rebounding from two mediocre performances, the Patriots earned the second seed in the AFC and an extra week to savor the win and prepare for their postseason opener on Jan. 13. The Denver Broncos got the top spot by beating the Kansas City Chiefs.

Shortly before the game, the Patriots learned that Houston had lost to the Indianapolis Colts. That meant a win would vault the Patriots over the Texans, who began the day seeded first, and into one of the two byes.

"Coach Belichick just said, "Look, the only people that can improve our position are us, so, regardless what anyone else does, we have to win," Brady said. "And that's what we did."

Decisively.

Stevan Ridley ran for two touchdowns as New England used a ball-control offense and a defense that posted the team's first shutout since a 59-0 rout of the Tennessee Titans 59-0 on Oct. 18, 2009.

The Patriots (12-4) led 21-0 at halftime on Brady's 9-yard touchdown pass to Wes Welker and Ridley's runs of 1 and 2 yards, capping drives lasting 14 and 13 plays. They ended the scoring on Brady's 23-yard scoring pass to Rob Gronkowski, who missed the previous five games after breaking his left forearm.

"It felt good. I haven't gotten hit in a while," Gronkowski said. "I got limited reps (but) you always want to get some reps before heading into the playoffs."

The Dolphins (7-9) finished with a losing record for the fourth straight season.

"We made progress in areas, but we have a ton of work to do," first-year coach Joe Philbin said.

Instead of going into the offseason with three straight wins, the Dolphins leave with the memory of their first blanking since losing 16-0 to the Chicago Bears on Nov. 18, 2010.

"We came in here with the mentality that we needed to finish the season strong," said Reggie Bush, whose 26 yards rushing left him 14 short of 1,000 for the season. "We obviously didn't do that."

For the AFC East champion Patriots, the victory came after they started poorly in their previous two games, losing to the San Francisco 49ers 41-34 before beating the woeful Jacksonville Jaguars 23-16.

But after turning it around against the Dolphins, there are still plenty of mistakes for Belichick to point out.

"He never falls short of having a bunch of things that we need to fix," cornerback Devin McCourty said. "There's no coach that gets you better prepared to go into the playoffs."

New England had trailed San Francisco 31-3 and Jacksonville 10-0 and sputtered at the start again on Sunday, turning the ball over on downs on its first possession and punting on its second.

Then it got a break.

Under heavy pressure, rookie Ryan Tannehill threw a pass that was intercepted by Steve Gregory, who returned it 13 yards to the Miami 28. Gronkowski gained 19 yards on the first pass thrown to him. On the second play of the series, Brady connected with Welker over the middle for a milestone completion.

Brady moved into second place in NFL history with a touchdown pass in 48 consecutive games, breaking a tie with Hall of Famer Johnny Unitas. And Brady became the first player to throw at least one scoring pass in all 16 games for three straight seasons.

Brady finished with 22 completions in 36 attempts for 284 yards. Tannehill was 20 for 35 for 235.

After each touchdown, fans tossed into the air some of the snow that was left over from an overnight accumulation of about 6 inches.

New England's top-rated offense got plenty of help from an improving defense.

Rookie Justin Francis had three sacks. Another rookie, Dont'a Hightower, recovered a fumble at the Patriots 1 on a botched handoff from Tannehill to Bush.

On the ensuing drive, a pass to Welker popped loose and Miami's Chris Clemons came up with the ball and ran about 60 yards for what officials ruled a touchdown. But the call was reversed and the play was ruled an incomplete pass upon video review.

Just another play that went New England's way.

There were plenty in the first half when the Patriots had advantages of 279-106 in yards, 18-7 in first downs and 18:35 to 11:25 in time of possession.

"This is like our playoff game," Miami center Mike Pouncey said, "and we didn't go out and perform the way we should have."

Notes: The Patriots won their sixth straight game against the Dolphins and finished with 11 wins in their last 12 games. ... Tannehill set Miami rookie records with 282 completions, 484 attempts and 3,294 yards passing ... The Patriots set an NFL record with 444 first downs after getting 28. They began the game tied with the 2011 New Orleans Saints at 416. ... Miami's Anthony Fasano and Kevin Burnett left the game in the third quarter and were evaluated for concussions. No results were announced.

Nevada Humanities launches its 21st young Chautaqua season for ...

The 21st season of Nevada Humanities? Great Basin Young Chautauqua program begins Jan. 17, 2013, with an information session and introduction to the program for parents and young people interested in participating in the after-school workshops. The information session will be held Thursday, Jan. 17 from 6:30-8:30 p.m at the University of Nevada, Reno in the Continuing Education Building, Room 107, 1041 N. Virginia Street, Reno. Young Chautauqua workshops begin Feb. 7 in Reno and will meet approximately every other week and run through June. Registration in the Young Chautauqua workshops is ongoing until Feb. 9. For more information contact Nevada Humanities at 775-784-6587 or visit http://nevadahumanities.org.

Great Basin Young Chautauqua is an intense program of scholarship, research, rehearsing and performing. Young Chautauquans select a historical character to portray and spend six months reading biographies, learning stories and rehearsing their characters at workshops twice a month. Great Basin Young Chautauqua, which was founded by Nevada Humanities in 1993, is the youth adjunct to the weeklong Nevada Humanities Chautauqua festival held each June in Reno.

Nevada Humanities is also pleased to announce the return of Anita Watson, Ph.D., coordinator of the Young Chautauqua program. Watson is a seasoned scholar and Chautauquan, having performed at the Nevada Humanities Chautauqua festival and for the Humanities on the Road program, adopting the characters of Emma Nevada, Mary McNair Mathews and Mary Oxborrow. Watson earned her doctorate in history at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she also taught. She has worked in the museum education field in Nevada and Minnesota, and published on the topics of Nevada women, Nevada medicine and Nevada history for middle school students.

?I?ve been involved with Chautauqua in Nevada for nearly 15 years and I?m excited to work with Young Chautauquans,? Watson said. ?Young Chautauquans bring something special to the Chautauqua experience. Their enthusiasm, their openness, their willingness to go out on a limb, to question, and then search for the answers, all of this is a critical part of the essence of Chautauqua, and the essence of a lively and dynamic education experience.?

Created and founded by Nevada Humanities, Young Chautauqua has grown into a nationally recognized and award-winning youth program. In 2002, Nevada Humanities received a Coming Up Taller Award from the President?s Commission on the Arts and Humanities for creating and developing Young Chautauqua. Young Chautauqua has spread to other Nevada communities and has been adopted by other states for use in classrooms and communities around the nation.

?Nevada Humanities has provided quality Young Chautauqua educational opportunities statewide,? said Christina Barr, executive director of Nevada Humanities. ?Young people who have graduated from the program have become engaged in a variety of meaningful and creative pursuits, including becoming attorneys, journalists and teachers. Many former Young Chautauquans credit Great Basin Young Chautauqua with helping them gain self-confidence, courage, research and speaking skills, and a deep appreciation for history and scholarship that has stuck with them through all of their interests and adventures. We are proud to be part of these young peoples? lives.?

Great Basin Young Chautauqua 2013 culminates with a special event held during Nevada Humanities Chautauqua week in June. The 22nd annual Nevada Humanities Chautauqua festival will take place June 24-27, 2013, at Bartley Ranch Regional Park, Reno.

Nevada Humanities is Nevada?s independent, nonprofit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. With offices in Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada Humanities creates public programs and supports public projects statewide that define the Nevada experience, feature local culture and heritage, and facilitate the exploration of issues that matter to Nevadans and their communities. Chinese fishing boat detained in Japan - Xinhua

    BEIJING | Sun Dec 30, 2012 3:17pm GMT

BEIJING (Reuters) - Japan's coastguard detained a Chinese fishing boat within Japanese waters on Sunday evening, China's Xinhua news agency said, citing the Chinese consulate general in Fukuoka, a city in south-western Japan.

The captain of the boat, registered in the south-eastern Chinese province of Fujian, and two crew members have been brought to the southern Japanese city of Kagoshima for questioning, Xinhua said.

It said the captain had admitted he was in Japanese waters.

The incident comes just months after anti-Japanese protests erupted in many Chinese cities over disputed islands near Taiwan, known as the Diaoyu in Chinese and Senkaku in Japanese. Those tensions have cooled but could flare up if stoked by nationalists on either side.

A spokesperson for the Japanese embassy in Beijing could not be reached for comment late on Sunday evening.

The Chinese fishing fleet tends to range far into the waters east of China to offset depleted stocks closer to shore.

Luxury cruise passengers sick; norovirus suspected

    1 day

NEW YORK --?An unknown illness, suspected of being a norovirus, has sickened 194 passengers and 11 crew members aboard the luxury cruise ship Queen Mary 2, causing vomiting and diarrhea, federal health officials said on Friday.

Earlier in the week, 189 passengers and 31 crew members on the Emerald Princess came down with the same symptoms.

The symptoms are those of norovirus, a contagious microorganism that can be acquired from an infected person, contaminated food or water, or by touching contaminated surfaces, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Norovirus causes an inflammation of the stomach or intestines called acute gastroenteritis, producing stomach pain, nausea and diarrhea, and is the most common cause of acute gastroenteritis in the United States.

Each year, norovirus causes some 21 million illnesses, of which 70,000 require hospitalization. It kills about 800 people a year, the CDC says.

The Queen Mary 2, with 2,613 passengers and 1,255 crew members, is now docked in Saint Lucia in the Caribbean, according to ship owner Cunard Line, which is owned by Carnival Corp. The cruise left Brooklyn, New York, last Saturday and is due to return there next Thursday.

The CDC learned of the illnesses on the QM2 on Christmas Day on Tuesday, and of those on the Emerald Princess last Saturday. Vessels are required to notify the agency when 2 percent of those on board develop a gastrointestinal illness.

Although the microbial culprit remains unclear In both cases, another reason to suspect norovirus is that the pathogen "has affected a number of schools, hospitals, nursing homes and children's day care centers this winter" in the United Kingdom, Cunard said in a statement.

The UK's Health Protection Agency reports that norovirus activity in the country is 83 per cent higher than last year.

The QM2 sails regularly scheduled crossings between New York and Southampton, England, between April and late November, Cunard spokeswoman Jackie Chase said in an email. "In addition, many of our guests come from the UK."

The QM2's captain is advising passengers with gastrointestinal symptoms to report to the medical center, Chase said. Those sickened are asked to "isolate themselves in their cabin until non-contagious. They are also asked not to proceed ashore, and any shore excursion costs will be refunded. Room service is provided to affected passengers and every effort is made to make them as comfortable as possible."

Of the 194 QM2 passengers who had fallen sick, said Chase, all but 12 had recovered as of Friday.

    'Norovirus?active on board'
In a post on the message board cruisecritic.com on Wednesday, a woman who said her daughter was on the QM2 said she "just received a message from her indicating that the Norovirus is active on board."

On Thursday, someone reporting being on the ship posted that "the restaurants are still full. The Captain last night recommended that people take all of their meals in the full-service restaurants rather than the buffet, but the buffet remains open as of this morning. We've been kept informed daily of the persistent cases."

Another post said: "The crew are working like crazy to service all the guests. At lunch today I noticed the hand rails on the promenade deck were wiped three times in about 1 hour."

In response to the outbreak, the QM2 crew has increased cleaning and disinfection procedures, the CDC said, and is asking passengers and crew to report cases of illness and "encourage hand hygiene."

Medical personnel are also collecting stool specimens from ill passengers and crew, which a CDC lab will analyze to make a definitive diagnosis.

When the QM2 docks in Brooklyn, an officer from the CDC's Vessel Sanitation Program and an epidemiologist will board, conduct an environmental health assessment "and evaluate the outbreak and response activities," the CDC said.

Two officers boarded the Emerald Princess, also owned by Carnival, when it arrived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Thursday and are conducting an environmental assessment.

The Vessel Sanitation Program has authority to inspect cruise ships that carry 13 or more passengers and call at U.S. ports. It gave the Queen Mary 2 a perfect 100 on its most recent inspection this past summer, but found a few minor infractions, including a lack of serving utensils with breakfast pastries at a buffet.
